Mainframe infrastructure sustains some of the most critical workloads on the planet. The engineers who operate it are among the least measured by the organizations that depend on them. This research project applies Substrata Research Methodologies to understand how mainframe teams actually work — their culture, their constraints, and their capacity for change.

Beginning with structured discovery and moving through qualitative interviews — the goal is a clear, evidence-based picture of where the mainframe ecosystem stands today, and what conditions support its continued evolution.

The research is fully independent — no vendor affiliation, no commercial mandate, no product to validate. Findings are published openly and belong to the practitioner community.
